Guban View: The Charade of Manchurian President’s ‘Peace and Security’ Initiative
It’s preposterous this week for Cirro to talk about peace, brotherhood, and unity among the Somaliland people in the rural district of El-Afweyne. Cirro has undermined peace, the rule of law, and the territorial integrity of our country for the past seven years.
Here are examples of how Cirro has undermined Somaliland’s security and territorial integrity: He denied that he lost the 2017 presidential election to sow division and hate. He called his supporters to riot. In 2018, he supported the insurrection led by the renegade Colonel Aare, who took arms against Somaliland. On December 19, 2022, he orchestrated, aided, abetted, and colluded with the insurrection in East Sool, which constitutes sedition and treason.
Mr. Cirro, where were you when, on August 11, 2023, the thug Ofwarren ambushed and killed Somaliland’s finest policemen?
Ofwarren,Cirro’s cousin, is a brutal thug who has committed heinous crimes for the past three decades. He must be brought to justice. He lives comfortably in the high-crime area of South Hargeisa under the constant protection of Somaliland police, the same police officers whose bodies he killed and desecrated! Somaliland should use whatever force is necessary to defeat these criminals!
Has Cirro condemned the armed Gar-Xajis militia, part of his security detail, that ambushed Somaliland police officers at Gacan Libaax National Park on August 11, 2023, killed 15 policemen, and wounded dozens——the deadliest police attack in our history?
Cirro is a fraud, a liar, a Somalia apologist, and unfit to serve as Somaliland’s president.
He hates Somaliland, our constitution, our flag, our law enforcement, and our freedom. He is a Manchurian president——a person brainwashed to do a foreign government’s bidding. He is doing the dirty work for the remnants of “Faqash” and the “Mooryaan” of Mogadishu.
Has he ever supported our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and armed forces to keep law and order, and to protect our nation?
We should not allow people like Cirro, a highly vocal minority, corrupt merchants, radical Ictisaam clergy, and fake media to undermine our hard-fought peace and stability.
Cirro became president because of a corrupt, rigged system, and the preference Somaliland people have for clan identity. He thinks he has a mandate to make Somaliland a federal state of the failed state of Somalia. But he’s dead wrong!
Cirro’s peace initiative for El-Afweyne is a charade and a distraction from his failure to address the lawlessness and chaos that prevail in eastern regions. It also distracts from his failure to release Somaliland POWs.
Look how the Cirro administration treats anti-Somaliland militia prisoners captured during the East Sool insurrection, while our commanders and other prisoners are still being tortured or even killed by savage militias in terrorist camps in Las-Anood and Buuhoodle!
What is Cirro and Khadar-Ambicil’s plan to release our prisoners? They have no plan to set free our prisoners. Their plan is to let Burr-Madoobe, the terrorist, use our prisoners as pawns to collect bounty money from the remnants of Faqash.
To be objective, for the past ten years, the previous Kulmiye administrations were complicit in the violence in El-Afweyne because they failed to take decisive action against the violence between Burr-Madoobe’s Habar-Jeclo and Cirros’ Habar-Yoonis sub-clans.
But many people do not expect the Manchurian President to be more proactive in finding a lasting solution to the communal violence in El-Afweyne.
Instead, Cirro is showering more money on warlord Burr-Madoobe and other notorious politicians like Hashi.
In fact, Cirro should not address peace, brotherhood, and unity in El-Afweyne because he’s a hypocrite! He is ignorant about Islam, national security, public safety, and governance.
In the case of El-Afweyne violence, Cirro did not follow the instructions of the Quranic verse (Al-Hujurat, 49:9). He failed to promote peace with justice because he did not hold perpetrators accountable for their transgressions.
A lasting peace will never be achieved in El-Afweyne as long as we are rewarding the perpetrators of this violence with no accountability.
Research showed that previous Somaliland administrations spent over $12 million on peace and reconciliation efforts in El-Afweyne. Most of that money became a cash cow for Burr-Madoobe and and the corrupt politicians from the area.
Please note that Burr-Madoobe is a man with a shady background. In the early 1990s, he made money from extortion and kidnapping businessmen, holding them hostage for ransom in Sanaag.
Burr-Madoobe is a warlord disguised as a sub-clan chief, and visited the Jilib and Jammaame area — the stronghold of Al-Shabaab terrorists, during 2013-14. His militias repeatedly undermined peace, security, and government authority in the Sanaag region, which is unacceptable.
Armed militias have no place in today’s Somaliland. It’s time for the Somaliland army to disarm Burr-Madoobe’s militias and others. We should only enlist in the military those who can read and write Somali!
We’re sick and tired of weak politicians like Cirro making empty promises of peace or delivering development programs to a lawless place like El-Afweyne.
Instead, we need a “peace through strength” initiative. We should build more prisons to lock up hardcore criminals and train more SWAT police officers to go after the bad individuals Burr-Madoobe and others are using as pawns. We must reinstate the death penalty throughout Somaliland. No more blood money, especially for murdering law enforcement officers.
With more security, the government will be able to deliver development aid for water, education, and health, and build paved roads.
Doing so would make the region safer. Anything else would only embolden bad actors like Burr-Madoobe and criminal gangs.
This region has great potential for economic development in mining, fishing, agriculture, and even tourism
The carnage in El-Afweyne must stop, and law and order must be restored because these communities deserve to live and work in peace and have the opportunity for a better life.
But how can Cirro, who has preached violence, hate, and division, now suddenly advocate peace and brotherhood after winning an election with so many irregularities?
Finally, if Cirro is serious about the peace and security of our country and fostering unity among our people, he must first bring justice to those individuals who orchestrated, aided, and abetted the insurrection in East Sool and the cop killers at the Gacan Libaax ambush. These alleged criminals are living comfortably in South Hargeisa under the protection of the Somaliland SWAT team!
This is vital for victims and their families to achieve justice and accountability , but also to set an example to criminals that murdering police officers has consequences!
